It has become a summer tradition for TRG members to spend a few hours with young day campers at The Oasis Center for Women and Girls. We teach the girls specifically about the game of roller derby, what the sport means to us and why we enjoy it so much. Whether or not the girls are on skates too during our visit, we find a way to let them practice some derby skills!
After we missed last year's camp due to the pandemic, we were pleased to have the opportunity to meet new campers this year and play some "shoe derby" with them and their counselors - who were some pretty fierce players themselves! We also provided TRG logo t-shirts to the campers so they could decorate them with their chosen jersey numbers and player names. After our visit, TRG donated some age-appropriate books on roller derby to The Oasis Center library.
